One of the best things about living in Santa Barbara, CA is the exquisite beauty of spring time. Wildflowers are blooming in abundance, the hillsides are covered in bright green vegetation, and the weather is sunny, mildly warm, and clear. The conditions beckon the soul to get outdoors and swim, bike, run…
So, what are you waiting for… get out there and enjoy spring, the outdoors, the wind through your hair, and the beauty of the world we live in!
Now that 2009 is history, I want to wish everyone, triathletes, runners, bloggers, swimmers, etc, a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!
2010 is already off to a great start. In fact, I ran a 10k this morning with a friend. While the overall pace was 12:37/mi, I had tons of fun getting out there and running nice and easy (run data via Training Peaks). Not only was I there to help encourage her, but I also learned a lot about myself in doing so. 2010 is going to be the best training year yet!
Well, not only was the 2009 Santa Barbara Triathlon a ton of fun, but I actually did pretty good too. I placed 269th in the Co-Ed Sprint course, finishing in just over one hour (01:04:04). My goal was to finish in under one hour, but I got close. It was almost two years ago that I began training for this course and I am happy to say that 60 pounds later and lots of fun, I finished it and met my goal! I will provide a summary of my experience later… for now, the celebration continues!
This weekend is the Santa Barbara Triathlon. I picked up my packet, bib, and chip and am ready for Sunday’s sprint course. I am super excited about this event. Almost two years ago, I set the goal of completing the Santa Barbara Triathlon sprint course. While I wasn’t ready for it in 2008, this year is the year. In fact, I am thinking about participating in the long-course next year.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, already. Below is a video of images I shot at East Beach while picking up my registration packet showing the venue. While it looks pretty bare right now, tomorrow and Sunday the transition area will be filled with 900 participants!
